Nonni and Allen started NPS in 2002 when the company where they had worked as sales managers dissolved. Nonni and Allen saw the opportunity to establish a merchant services company based in Maine. They were, and remain, committed to building a company dedicated to providing high levels of customer service, advanced technology and long-term business partnerships. Starting with just 13 staff members, the company now employs more than 60 individuals at its headquarters in Scarborough, and another 200 independent sales professionals around the country.

The company’s growth strategy centers on creating new and more efficient technology that adapts to individual customer’s evolving needs. “If we find there is a demand for a solution, we do our best to design something that accommodates the needs of our customers,” says Nonni.

One of NPS’ most recent developments is a unique solution called MuniciPAY. MuniciPAY allows governments to offer their citizens the convenience of making payments via credit/ debit cards, and prevents the municipality from absorbing the fees associated with card acceptance. Citizens can now pay car registrations, obtain fishing licenses and pay property taxes with a credit or debit card.
