HOW DOES RETEX WORK?

EnergySolve is a leading provider of Energy information and demand-side management services. It is the only company that has its own proprietary bill payment and outsourcing system combined with its own Operating Center where its employees manage smart meters and wireless end-use control devices on behalf of its customers to reduce energy demand.

Single-Stop Shop for Energy Information Services
  • Bill outsourcing and payment
  • Bill auditing
  • Tariff Analysis
  • Energy Procurement (Electricity and Natural Gas)
  • Energy Efficiency Demand Reduction (DR)
  • Onsite Generation
  • Traditional or proprietary financing
  • Specialists in obtaining incentives/rebates
  • Specialists in obtaining Emission Reduction/GHG credits for EE savings

Principles Around Which Services are Organized
  • You cannot manage what you cannot measure
  • The availability of quality information reduces procurement costs
  • A saved unit of energy is less expensive than a generated unit of energy
  • Controlling energy demand during peak usage periods can produce substantial savings
  • The Customer’s store managers are often too busy (or lack training) to manage energy demand
  • Generating energy on-site may be less expensive than buying electricity from the grid
  • A Customer needs to use its capital for its core business first

Utility Bill Payment, Auditing, Analysis and Information Reporting
  • Provides electronic utility bill outsourcing, auditing; tariff analysis, late fee avoidance, and flexible bill payment solutions
  • Captures important energy information to better manage energy and other utility spend
  • Develops a customized bill outsourcing program and energy management program that maximizes opportunities to save money and reduces service costs and risks in regulated and deregulating marketplaces
  • Reduces administrative burden and expense of processing bills
  • Converts a substantial amount of paper to electronic format
  • Facilitates a public company’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements with the bill outsourcing service

Energy Efficiency and Demand Response

EnergySolve Demand Response deploys new energy efficiency technologies such as Westinghouse’s Retrolux and Highbay T-5 wireless, dimmable fluorescent lights, that replace inefficient T-12 lighting or Metal Halide lights in stores or distribution centers and provide energy efficiency and demand response in a single installation.

Advantages of T-5 High Output Highbay Fixtures
  • More consistent and brighter store lighting
  • T-5HO lamps maintain 95% of their initial lumens over their rated life (20,000 hours)
  • Metal halide lamps lose more than 50% of their initial lumens over their rated life of 15,000 to 20,000 hours
  • Instant on “program start” allows for occupancy dimming during hours customers are not in the store, thereby increasing savings
  • Instant re-strike eliminates potential dark facility resulting from a power interruption
  • Reflectors in T-5 lamp can direct light to where it needs to be (e.g. from top to bottom of shelving)
  • Reduced risk of fire or injury – cooler lamps than metal halides with arc tube temperatures of 2,000 degrees F.
  • Color rendering index (CRI) is better – 85 versus 65 for metal halide lamps

Smart Meter and Load Control
This additional service offered by EnergySolve, deploys innovative “smart meter” and “load control” technologies at commercial, retail, industrial, municipal, and institutional buildings. Together, these “demand reduction” or “demand response” technologies help electricity customers monitor their real-time energy use, track this usage against energy market prices and conditions, and reduce their energy use at those times when it saves the most money without affecting facility operations.

Network Operations Center Software
  • Customer consumption
  • Customer peak demand
  • Utility rate tariff
  • Geographic congestion
  • Market clearing price
  • Weather
  • Customer access to data analysis and reporting through Nxegen RTIS-
  • Real Time Information System

Traditional Financing or EnergySolve’s Services Agreement
  • Energysolve arranges traditional capital or operating lease financing
  • EnergySolve replaces the existing equipment or installs new equipment (e.g., controls) and owns and maintains the new equipment under a proprietary EnergySolve Service Agreement that offers the customer a no cost/no risk opportunity to save money by installing energy efficient equipment.
  • The Customer does not have to make a capital outlay
  • The Customer pays for the usage of the equipment; the usage fee payment is a fixed payment and equates to some percentage of expected savings (typically 40% to 60% of the savings)
  • While the projected savings will always exceed the usage fee, EnergySolve will guarantee that the usage fee will not exceed the savings, thereby ensuring that the Customer will not lose money by undertaking the project. After a term of years (3-10 depending on the price of energy, incentives, and operating hours) the customer may (but is not required to) buy the equipment by paying fair market value or can negotiate a new usage fee
  • The Service Agreement is off-the-balance sheet and the usage fee is treated as an item of expense.
